Bio
Eve spent a combined eleven years with the University of Washington softball program — first as a student-athlete, then as a volunteer assistant coach in the late 1990s, and later as an assistant coach from 2005–2008.
Coaching Highlights at Washington
In 2007, Eve developed the dominant pitching duo of Danielle Lawrie and Caitlin Noble into the most prolific strikeout pair in program history. Together they recorded 598 combined strikeouts, marking just the second 500+ strikeout season in Husky history. The pair also held opponents to a .195 batting average and .288 slugging percentage — the lowest totals in six seasons.
As a freshman in 2006, Lawrie broke four UW strikeout records and followed that with a sophomore campaign totaling 457 strikeouts, surpassing her previous record of 397. She became just one of two pitchers in UW history to exceed 300 strikeouts in a season and averaged 11.51 strikeouts per game, breaking her previous mark of 10.51.
Lawrie also set school records for strikeouts in both regulation and extra-inning games. She earned First Team All-American honors and carried the Huskies through the postseason with seven wins, including a no-hitter against DePaul and a one-hitter against Northwestern at the Women’s College World Series.
In her first year back at UW as a coach, Eve developed Ashley Boek and Caitlin Noble, both of whom set single-game strikeout records. Noble surpassed Eve’s own 1995 record of 15 strikeouts with a 16-strikeout performance against Willamette. Noble also set the Washington single-season record with 9.85 strikeouts per game.
Florida State University
Prior to returning to Washington, Eve spent two seasons as the assistant coach in charge of pitching at Florida State University.
During her tenure:
- The Seminoles posted a 106-23 record
- FSU led the nation in ERA in 2004
- Ranked fourth nationally in ERA in 2003
- Advanced to the 2004 Women’s College World Series
Under her guidance, Jessica Van der Linden and Casey Hunter both earned All-American honors in 2004, finishing with the nation’s second- and third-lowest individual ERAs, respectively.
Van der Linden also won both the Honda Award for softball and the USA Softball Player of the Year Award, becoming the first woman to win both honors in the same year.
Playing Career at Washington
As a Husky pitcher, Eve compiled a career record of 69-17 and appeared in three Women’s College World Series (1996, 1997, 1998), helping lead Washington to:
- Second place finish in 1996
- Third place finishes in 1997 and 1998
She was a four-time All-Pac-10 selection and earned All-American honors in 1998.
In 1995, Eve recorded 27 wins (tied for fourth-most in Husky history) and 12 shutouts (second-most at the time), earning Husky Softball Rookie of the Year honors.
Although she did not begin hitting until midway through her junior season, she still ranks:
- Sixth in career slugging percentage (.554)
- Ninth in career on-base percentage (.410)
As a senior, she led the Huskies in:
- Batting average (.345)
- RBIs (37)
- Home runs (8)
She was named Husky Player of the Year following her senior season.
